Before my
caretaker,
his wheelbarrow weighted,
began work,
the rain used my roof
as its dance floor,
leaping and kicking
its heels then hurling
to the ground,
displacing the sand
and dirt from my garden,
exposing the rock
as if it were an artifact
from a anonymous history,
to be viewed once then covered
by topsoil, purple petunias,
and red geraniums.
