I Swear By Love
Jalal Zangabadi

Isn't my heart
Harder than the stone
When it beats
Without the chemistry of your charming soul?
I swear by love
If your separation touched any rock
Its heart will scream:
-Help me.
Otherwise
Why did the heart of the cloud
Weep with my heart
That separated from you
In a winter morning?!

My Question Invades Me

On the banks of the rivers,
On the trunks of the trees,
On the walls of the caves,
On the stones
And on the carpets and the fences
Didn't my shadow be eternal
Whereas I faded
With all my truths and aberrations?!
And now
Do not five thousand of me die of starving everyday
Yet I don't care?!

In A Disastrous Map

Wherever
The swastikas glitter
The wars and the black markets reproduce.
The smile then will be lost,
The piece of bread
And the water dosage.
The misses, the spinsters, the widows, the maids and the bereaved of their children
Become ghosts surround my future
And bleed withered wailing and moaning
Till their last breath stiffens
In grief
And in spite of the spider of the bank note
Some of them
Sew the remain slim hope as an endless lament
In a bereaved map
Under the heap of the trash of treason
Where my country didn't shine above me
For ages…

(Translated from Arabic into English By Soheil Najm,Iraqi poet)
