She wonders:
Is reality
a blue pen
pouring blue ink
on blue-lined
paper?
Blue turtleneck, blue
slacks,
blue socks?
Is blue the heart of snow
blizzarding
down
in flat sheets, flying too
fast to
see them fall?
Frost on the back porch,
old blue-tick
coonhound
peeing on his front leg?
Stiff fingers
washing
the dog’s fur, bathrobe
flapping
in the wind?
Trace of veins under
translucent
flesh?
Blue as cold sky,
sapphire,
cobalt
Is she blue as ice?
She can’t
decide.
