A War in the Shades

The
book is a compilation of twenty-eight poems
written during the span of the last five years.
I have written hundreds of poems during the
period. Most of them are in Malayalam. Two
poems in this collection are translations
of a local poet, Koothali Gangadharan. They
are marked in the brackets. Poetry to me is
not a hobby or vocation; I treat it as my
life. This intense love for poetry might not
reflect in my compositions. This is, in no
way, a hindrance to me to consider poetry
as my life. I hate war and terror. I am of
the opinion that man need not aid God; I also
think that men need not fear or worship ghosts.
Only a few in this world think that war could
solve any problem. If it were so, there would
not have been any problem for the United States
for it has after its inception fought a hundred
and odd wars. And it is still in war with
many a country. I am not speaking of right
or wrong, but of the illegitimacy of the belief
that war could solve any problem. The same
is the case with terrorism; terrorism is concealed
war, individual war, where as war is large-scale
terrorism. Most people the world over are
innocent and are strained to find out a means
of living. A cuddling is a great enrichment
for their lives. A frown is a great threat
for them. And things are like this. It is
in the background of this vision, I hope,
all readers would understand my poems. I am
not a serious man. I love jokes, but I am
not jovial person. If you are a jovial person,
please give me some joy. I shall happily share
it with you. This volume is not that much
edited since it is not in book form. Still,
Rick would call it e-book. |
