Today is Tuesday the 24th of June. Channels show that the difference on Lokpal Bill still exists. Marathon sessions between the Hon. Minister Kapil Sibal and the so-called saviours of India have been talking too much of late. The whole drama very often transpires to a gimmick. Lokpal bill is the main question that pertains to them. But what happens to the whole lot of trillions that the country lost by the graft and open corruption done by the ruling parties at the centre and i8n a few states like Maharashtra, Karnataka and elsewhere? When a society indulges in corruption while the rulers sit idle and enjoys the perks they get out of it, it has to introspect, yeah, and people have to introspect. The Whig continuance in power for an uncertain length of time during one of the earlier centuries, the whole society of the United Kingdom was helpless until the people took their own stern measures of wiping them of power.
But in our country, what is the alternative? What are the Left and Democratic opposition doing in the face of this malignant cancer that has affected and infected our beloved nation? Are they in a state of lamentation over the few seats they lost in the last Assembly elections? Are they mourning their defeat in the elections?
They do not remember the way in which the ruling outfits deal with the matter. In a case like 2 G-spectrum where the Prime Minister cannot evade his responsibility because of the heavy quantum of money involved, a minor regional party is incriminated by putting its leaders in Jail. May be or may not be Kanimozhi is a good or a bad poet, but she is assumed to be a culprit par excellence by the highest courts of the land. A woman who was not heard for his poetic excellence or for her political efficiency was made Member of Parliament by nominating her to Rajyasabha one day just because her father is the chief minister of the most powerful southern state. For the same reason, her brother was the Deputy Chief Minister in Tamilnadu for the last five years, another brother is still minister in the central cabinet, and one of her cousins is still in the central ministry. Most of them have no good record of governance of political capabilities. A pack from a family has come out to loot the nation, it seems.
But is it not possible that the poster boomed political tycoons of India are also responsible for the lot many grafts enquired into recently? P. Chidambaram’s photograph is always exhibited on the posters in favour of his son, the good and worthy name of whom I cannot remember, with the explicit intention of boosting the son’s [political prospects. We would not complain if the attempt is for a potential employment. It is the duty of a father to search employment for the children. Here what happens is just because one young man is born to Ad. Nalini Chidambaram, his saga is sung by the pied pipers in the media as if he were born to rule the nation, just as in the case of Mr. Rahul Gandhi, who roams about streets in the different towns and cities and run into tea vendors creating consternation in the minds of the police and the local public. He goes to colleges and speaks unspeakable things and to farmers where he said that he is ashamed to be an Indian. He visits tourist spots with his friends, we can u8nderstand it.
Are we to assume that this much corruption is happening to bring these non-entities to power?
When the nation was agitated over the grafts, comes Hasare the saviour. He claims to be Gandhian, but we do not know in what struggle of Gandhiji he had taken part. Hollywood and the like establishments sent their representatives to the site of his hunger strike and it is by far the most exhilarating show biz with the bunch of film stars and businessmen and around him. Her misunderstood Gandhiji’s relation with Birla and Birla Mandir, certainly. Gandhiji fell martyr there in the Birla Mandir on the sorrowful day of 30th January 1948. And Hasare? He reduced the people’s opposition to the corrupt govt. It is a fascist way salvaging, one man saving a nation.
The multi trillionaire Ramdev played tricks on the people by his fasting and his tacit understanding with the ruling clique. May I ask, is it a Junta that is in power? Adarsh flats are gone and sold. The saintly Anthony is still silent on the corruption.
We have nothing against them; some of them have decided to steal, and some have decided to be accomplices.
We ask again, what is the reason for the impotency on the part of the Left and Democratic Opposition? Will a few communiqué suffice in a circumstance like this? Is politics fleeing its responsibility? Graft and corruption are political issues and it is upto the political parties to rise to the occasion.
But we harbor on past defects and defeats. Defects and defeats are natural to politics. But it cannot squeeze public money. A sum of 1, 76, 000 crores is no small sum, it can construct hospitals in almost all hamlets in India. When, you, sires of the Left and democratic opposition are remaining idle, the slogan of assassinating Bin Laden or Savagiri is again raised to deviate the international attention.
Let us not politicize anything, but we need not politicize politics, it is already politics, it is not the muscle game of Alagiri the non-speaking minster of the Indian Cabinet. He used muscle and money to win his elections in Madurai. He feels he can do it every where. And the funniest thing is that Muthuvel Kalaijnar Karunanidhi still sits with Hasares and the Prime Minister to discuss the Lokpal Bill.
It is not still late. We hope the Left and Democratic Opposition will rise to the occasion to bring all culprits to the docks and get them punished after recovering the trillions they stole.
