Searching for the Body
Kimberley L Becker

The widened gyre of the police helicopter

Tightens

Until it treads air

Above

The pond.

Glare

Of spotlight on murk.

Though dark, the city park

Is overrun with curiosity seekers.

Some saw the man enter the water.

News crews stage interviews.

Divers come.

Spectators are sent home.

Kimberly L. Becker has recent or forthcoming publications in Autumn Sky, Beltway Poetry Quarterly, Ghoti Magazine, and Triplopia, as well as in an anthology of contemporary women’s poetry, Letters to the World (Red Hen Press).
